A 0% payment plan for Ghanaian students headed to a UK Master's

Ghanaian students accepted onto UK Master's programmes often hit the same wall at the same point: the offer is real, the visa route is clear, but paying a full year's tuition upfront isn't. GlobCred's SmartPay plan was built for exactly this moment — turning one large tuition bill into a structured, interest-free schedule tied to your visa and study timeline, not a bank's lending criteria.

What SmartPay actually is

SmartPay is a tuition payment plan, not a loan. There's no credit agreement and no interest charged to the student. GlobCred structures your remaining balance into fixed monthly payments made directly to your university once your visa is approved.

It's designed to answer one question: how do I pay for this in stages, without paying extra for the privilege of spreading it out?

How the process works

  1. Application. GlobCred submits your application to your chosen university and guides you through admission.
  2. Offer letter. Once approved, you receive your university offer.
  3. Initial deposit. After your unconditional offer, you pay the university's initial tuition deposit to confirm your seat.
  4. CAS and visa. Once conditions are met, including proof of funds, the university issues your CAS and GlobCred supports your UK visa application.
  5. SmartPay begins. Once your visa is approved, your monthly SmartPay instalments start — paid directly to your university.

An example SmartPay balance

Fees, scholarships and deposits vary by university and course, so treat the figures below as illustrative — your own plan is calculated from your actual offer letter:

Total tuition (example)£17,500
Tuition scholarship– £2,500
Initial university deposit– £4,000
SmartPay balance£11,000

The GlobCred Cash Reward

Partway through your plan, once your visa is approved and your instalments are underway, GlobCred credits a Cash Reward — typically £1,700 on a representative plan — directly to your UK bank account. This comes from GlobCred, not from the university or a third-party scholarship fund, and is separate from any tuition scholarship your university may already offer. It's subject to eligibility and confirmation, not automatic.

Paying from Ghana

Early instalments can typically be paid in Cedi from Ghana via mobile money or bank transfer, with GlobCred converting to GBP at the prevailing rate at the time of payment. We don't fix or promise an exchange rate in advance, since rates move with the market — worth building a small buffer into your monthly budgeting.

Who this suits

SmartPay fits students with, or close to securing, an unconditional offer from a participating UK university who'd rather spread their balance over fixed monthly payments than raise it all at once. Eligibility is reviewed individually with a GlobCred advisor against your specific offer and timeline.

Common questions

Does SmartPay involve interest?
No. It's a payment plan against tuition you already owe, not a credit facility, and carries no interest for the student.
When does my plan start?
After your UK visa is approved — visa outcomes are decided solely by the UK government and aren't within GlobCred's control.
Is the £1,700 Cash Reward guaranteed?
It's subject to eligibility, university confirmation, and staying current on your instalments. An advisor can confirm exact terms for your plan.
